Austin was a graduate of Parkland High School and he was a member of the Parkettes Mens Gymnastics team. He was a student and served as a Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy. He would have been part of the 2013 graduating class of the US Naval Academy and was selected to be the USNA mens gymnastics team captain. He was an Academic All-American Award recipient for years 2006 through 2009. Austin was a member of Calvary Moravian Church, Allentown.
