LTJG Christopher M. Bailey (USNA '21)

from $35.00

Lieutenant Junior Grade Christopher Bailey, a dedicated service member and Naval Aviator, passed away on August 12, 2024. A 2017 graduate of South Anchorage High School, Christopher was inspired by his great uncle to join the Navy. The path he chose took him to the United States Naval Academy, where he studied Quantitative Economics and was a member of the Men's Hockey team.

From a young age, Chris dreamed of becoming a pilot. He began with the Civil Air Patrol before his 12th birthday and later joined ROTC in high school. By 17, he had earned his private pilot's license. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2021, he entered the Naval Aviator program and achieved his Wings of Gold and NATOPs certification for the Boeing P-8 Poseidon.

Christopher served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) and student pilot with Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron 30 at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. He was set to join his first operational squadron, Patrol and Reconnaissance Squadron 1 in Whidbey Island, Washington. His time in the Navy was marked by his dedication and the close-knit camaraderie he valued within his squadron.

His service was tied to the Navy’s maritime patrol efforts, crucial for global stability and crisis response. Christopher’s values of community and a strong work ethic, instilled from his upbringing in Unalakleet, were central to his life and service. He took pride in continuing his family's military tradition and expressed gratitude for the support of his family and friends.

Proceeds from the sale of the LTJG Christopher M. Bailey memorial bracelet will be donated to Make-A-Wish Alaska & Washington.
