Their Story
Remembering Anthony D. Wentz.
On November 19th, 2021 our brother, 2d Lt Anthony D. Wentz was killed in a military training accident at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas.
Anthony “Tony” D. Wentz was born on July 17, 1998 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was an avid baseball and hockey player, playing the sports he loved with his three older brothers, as well as his dad. He graduated from Falcon High School as salutatorian of the class of 2016.
After high school, Tony followed the footsteps of his father and brother by serving in the military. He accepted an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York where he studied mechanical engineering. At West Point, Tony met the love of his life and now wife, Cori.
Tony and Cori were a house divided when they had their first date at a Philadelphia Flyers vs. Dallas Stars game, as Tony was a dedicated Flyers fan. Tony graduated from West Point with the class of 2020 where he cross-commissioned into the United States Air Force after receiving a pilot slot.
Cori and Tony were married July 6, 2020. Later that summer, Tony arrived to Laughlin Air Force Base to begin his flying career.
Tony was one of the most selfless people in the world. He worked extremely hard, relentlessly and fearlessly pursuing his dreams, all while lending a helping hand to any classmate or friend who asked. He always made time for those he cared about and always wore his feelings on his sleeve.
He made sure everyone he loved knew that he loved them after every conversation. Tony also firmly held on to his faith, and he never feared standing up for what he believed in, even at his own personal risk. Anthony never wavered, never doubted, and never failed to do what was right.
Tony is survived by his wife Cori, brother Matt, father Matt, mother Beth, stepmother Dee, stepbrothers Sean and Cody, father-in-law Jack, mother-in-law Marianne, as well as the rest of an enormous family, blood and chosen, that loved him tremendously.
