Gunnery Sergeant Justin E. Schmalstieg served his country with unwavering dedication, courage, and honor as a United States Marine. A leader among Marines, he embodied the core values of the Corps—honor, courage, and commitment—both in uniform and in the way he lived his life.
Throughout his service, GySgt Schmalstieg demonstrated exceptional leadership, guiding and mentoring those under his charge while always placing the mission and his fellow Marines above himself. His professionalism, strength of character, and steadfast resolve earned the respect of his peers and the Marines he led.
Beyond his service, Justin was known for his loyalty, his integrity, and his deep commitment to those he cared about. He was more than a Marine—he was a brother, a leader, and a friend whose impact will not be forgotten.
