2LT Terence Murphy was born in Monterey, California on March 9, 1990. He graduated from Bellarmine College Prep in 2008. 2LT Murphy graduated West Point in 2013 as a Systems Engineering major and played on the Sprint Football team as a wide receiver. Upon graduation from West Point, he branched Engineers and was training at Fort Leonard Wood at the time of his death. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
Terence's last memorable words to his mother were "I want to do more in my Army career." This is why he trained as hard as he did to prepare himself to attend the Sapper Leader Course.
He is survived by his parents Brian & Lori Murphy, sister Brianna Murphy and brothers Blair & Bradley Murphy of Morgan Hill, grandparents Conrad & Vickie Lowrey of Fallon, Nevada, grandmother Diann Murphy of Saratoga and uncle Dave Murphy of Los Gatos.
Proceeds from the 2LT Terence Murphy bracelet will be donated to Bellarmine College Preparatory in his memory.
