1LT Stephen H. Broadus (USMA '19)

from $35.00

Stephen H. Broadus was born on January 15, 1997 in Sasebo, Japan to Kitty and Robert, a 1994 Naval Academy graduate and Navy veteran. Friends described him as the “quintessential, all-American Cali guy- lighthearted with a big heart, full of energy, full of life. Humble, a loyal friend, a thinker, an investor, and all about surfing, traveling, sun and fun.”

Stephen studied Law and Portuguese at West Point, where he had a passion for traveling and adventure. Throughout his years as a cadet, he often traveled with friends across the United States and the world, to countries such as Portugal and Brazil. Stephen was fluent in Portuguese, and completed a semester abroad at the Instituto Militar de Engenharia, (IME), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After graduating West Point in 2019, he was commissioned into the Infantry, graduated from Ranger School, and attended the Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Course.

Stephen had just received an honorable discharge from the Army before he passed away on April 23, 2022. He was set to work at Amazon and live the life he truly wanted, being a free-traveling spirit.

Shared by his friend Andrew- “One of the most lasting memories I had of his was in Portugal, where we sat together on the beach to watch the sunset. We talked about life, our goals, our fears, the future. A real talk that so few people get the opportunity to share with each other. It is shame that he passed away so young and never got to have his goals come to fruition. But he did leave a lasting impact on me and many of our classmates.”

Proceeds from the sale of each 1LT Stephen H. Broadus memorial will be donated to Heroes Indeed.
