COL Brian D. Allgood was born in Regensberg, Germany, 19 October 1960. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After receiving a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1986, he interned in General Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center from 1986-1987. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center from 1990 to 1994 and subsequently became board certified. Military education includes completion of the AMEDD Officers Basic and Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.

Previous assignments include Battalion Surgeon of the Third Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment (1987-1990) where he participated in operation JUST CAUSE; Division Orthopedic Surgeon, 82d Airborne Division (1994-1996); Chief, Orthopedic Surgery Clinic, Womack Army Medical Center (1996-1997); Orthopedic Consultant to JSOC (1996-1997); Commander, 274th Forward Surgical Team (ABN), Fort Bragg, NC (1997-1999); and Commander, 232d Medical Battalion/ Course Director for the Combat Medic course (1999-2001); Commander, Keller Army Community Hospital and USMA Surgeon, West Point, NY (2002-2004); Commander, 18th Medical Command/121st General Hospital, Camp Yongson, South Korea (2004-2006); Command Surgeon Multi-National Forces-Iraq, Camp Victory, Iraq.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), the Humanitarian Service Medal (Hurricane Fran), the Joint Service Achievement Medal (Joint Special Operations Command), Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Star), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead (Just Cause), the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Combat Medical Badge (Just Cause), the Combat Action Badge, the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Army Flight Surgeon Badge, the Master Combat Parachutists' Badge, and the Ranger Tab. He is also a recipient of the Order of Military Medical Merit.

The United States Army Garrison, YongSan, Korea, renamed the Army hospital there in honor of Col. Brian D. Allgood. In recognition of his outstanding service and significant contributions to the Army Medical Department and the U.S. Army, this medical treatment facility was officially memorialized and became the Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital. Allgood served as the commander at this hospital from June 2004 to June 2006.

COL Allgood is survived by his wife, COL (Ret) Jane Allgood and his son, Wyatt, aged 11.

Proceeds from the COL Brian D. Allgood bracelet will be donated to the COL Brian Allgood Memorial Leadership Award and Fund.
